A Mother’s Unfiltered Truth
Out
of all the well-meaning advice I received before my child was born, only one
sentence truly stayed with me:
"Sleep as much as you can now, because for months, peaceful sleep will
be a luxury."
It was like someone saying, “Eat as much as you want today because tomorrow there will be no food.” But just as the stomach has a limit before it bursts, so too does sleep—no matter how much you try to store it, it eventually runs out.
What no one told me was that a child—wrapped in sweetness, brimming with charm, and bringing along a bundle of unique challenges—is nothing less than an earthquake that shakes the very foundation of your life.
Your nights shorten. Your meals are no longer uninterrupted; tea grows cold in forgotten cups. Priorities shift without warning. Important tasks get postponed. Personal time becomes rare. Your hobbies change from what they once were to capturing countless pictures of his tiny hands, his messy hair, and his mischievous smile.
It is a life of contradictions—you chase after him, drained and desperate for him to nap early, yet when he sleeps, you scroll through his photos and ache to hold him again.
You live your hardest days and your sweetest moments all at once. And somewhere in the quiet of your thoughts, you wonder—how did I ever think I was living before he came? For now you know—he is the very meaning of life itself.
